Description
Crystal Beach is a family-friendly community located in Ottawa West. Its boundaries include Carling Avenue to the North, Moodie Drive to the West, and Corkstown Road to the South & East. Established in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, Crystal Beach was primarily developed by Minto Developments Inc., and many of the properties are modified versions of the “original 5” model homes that were built in the area.
When you take a tour of the Crystal Beach neighbourhood you will notice the variety of housing styles, ranging from 3 & 4 bedroom bungalows/splits with large private lots, to the newer executive style townhomes and singles that offer spectacular waterfront views.
Originally part of Nepean, Crystal Beach became a part of the city of Ottawa in 2001, when Nepean was amalgamated.
A primarily residential neighbourhood, Crystal beach has become one of the most sought after real estate locations in Ottawa. Most of the appeal of Crystal Beach is due to its close proximity to Andrew Hayden Park, the Ottawa River, and the Nepean Sailing Club.
Crystal Beach has easy access to both the west end and downtown, as it is served by 2 major arteries, Carling Avenue and the 417 Highway.
Dick Bell Park, located in the community along the Ottawa River, is one of the most scenic parks you will find in the city. Take a stroll on the paved walkways or just sit and enjoy the harbour view on one of the many park benches available. This park is conveniently located next to one of Ottawa’s other popular park – Andrew Haydon Park.
The Crystal Beach community has no shortage of things to do and see. Whether shopping is your forte, or perhaps you prefer taking a nice stroll through the many walking and bike paths, there is something for every lifestyle. For one of the best west end diner breakfasts and lunches, hit Ralph and Sons’ diner. It opens at 6:00 am, and the coffee is fresh, hot and generous. The kitchen is open to the restaurant and the staff is friendly
If it’s an evening of dining and dancing you are seeking, the Villa Lucia Supper Club may be the spot for you. This is the place to enjoy a true evening out – you can have a great meal and then get up and dance on the large dance floor.
The Bayshore Shopping Centre is with close proximity and offers many different shops. The National Capital Equestrian Park is also nearby, and offers a riding school and special events.
The Riverpark Place Retirement Residence is also found in this community, and offers the convenience of city living in a park like setting, truly the best of both worlds.
