7% Curb Appeal Can Affect 7% of Your Home’s Value
Spring is finally here, the sun is warm, the grass is green and you have just spent hours prepping your house for sale. The interior shines! It is staged and ready to welcome potential buyers.
Hold on…we need the buyer to actually want to enter your home and the exterior of your home is the first impression. I am not going focus on the front door today – but just one reminder…make it sparkle. Your lawn and garden is what the buyers see first, not the granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. This is what we call curb appeal.
You could potentially capitalize on an extra 7% if you create a wow factor from the moment potential Buyers drive up. They will pay for a well landscaped home with a lovely outdoor living space. Ensure your gardens are not over planted and using mulch will help keep the weeds at bay and your garden looking neat and tidy. It is important that your outdoor furniture is well placed and can be viewed from the interior.
Does your outdoor space say to you, “Hey after you have finished laundry you need another three hours to weed and dead head the perennials”? If it does, your house is not ready for market.
Good luck and Happy Gardening!
PS…If you don’t want to leave your favorite plant behind make sure to disclose to the buyer that you are taking it with you.
